Welcome to Counseling and Nature Therapy Center
At Counseling and Nature Therapy Center, it is our passion to help you live your best life possible! Every member of our practice has their own unique journey to becoming a therapist. We try to stay away from overly academic or authoritative approaches to counseling. While knowledgeable and well-trained, we are person focused. There is no “cookie cutter” approach to helping, so your goals are based specifically on your needs. We are just people, connecting with you as co-journeyers to help you along your path.
We take a holistic approach to your care, to make sure you feel safe, seen and cared for. All the psychoeducation in the world will not lead to change unless we can effectively create a meaningful personal relationship with you based on authentic connection, and creating an individual treatment plan based on your specific needs.

Joyful Retoration (Private Practice) and Connections Mental Health Agency:
Throughout my clinical experience I worked mainly with teenagers and young adults in individual and group settings. I gained a wide range of experience while helping clients overcome a wide range of mental health concerns. I also helped by conducting assessments and developing comprehensive treatment plans tailored to each client's unique needs.
Bonnie King, Ph.D., LPC-S,
Owner and Executive Director of Counseling and Nature Therapy Center, PLLC
Like many psychotherapists, I came into this profession with natural empathy, a deep desire to serve others, and curiosity for understanding the human condition. I’ve also experienced my own trauma, which led me to want to help others in the ways in which I wish I would have received help, or in the ways I actually did receive help through my own therapeutic journey.
As someone who grew up in North Texas, I experienced the aftermath of the heroin epidemic in Plano in the early 2000’s. Unfortunately I lost some friends, and my beloved older brother to bipolar disorder and addiction. He was 22 years old.
This devastating loss led to soul-searching and research to try to understand why we lost him. I also experienced my own struggles with mental health and trauma during my adolescence and young adulthood that shaped the trajectory of my life. Through increasing my knowledge about effective coping strategies, self-care, family dynamics and engaging in my own therapy, which included EMDR to work through past trauma, I was able to heal.
It is my passion to help others heal, and to impact my community positively in the ways that I know how. What a gift it is to see and be seen by another, and I’m honored that I get to connect with others’ humanity for a living. I value each and every person I encounter as a counselor, and work diligently with you to co-create an effective, evidence-based treatment plan that helps you get past the pain and trauma you may have been holding onto for so long.
As I have gained more experience in the profession, it is now my true privilege to help create a community of therapists with the same passion to help others as myself. They are compassionate, creative, skilled and uniquely qualified in so many ways to serve the specific populations with which they have chosen to work. I can’t wait for you to meet the team!
Sincerely,
Bonnie
