“Family pathology rolls from generation to generation like a fire in the woods taking down everything in its path until one person, in one generation, has the courage to turn and face the flames. This person brings peace to his ancestors and spares the children that follow.” Terrence Real

Sometimes, life can throw us a curve ball, or even can bring us to our knees. We find ways to manage, cope, and get through the day, but often, that isn’t enough, and as a result we can feel overwhelmed, frightened, or very alone. In society we receive the message to “keep a stiff upper lip,” and we are celebrated when we can “pick ourselves up by our bootstraps,” but no one ever tells us how. As a result, we become frustrated with ourselves, without realizing that we were never provided healthy coping skills for when life gets tough. For those of us who have experienced traumatic life experiences, getting through each day can feel like a herculean effort with no relief in sight.

If you feel like this is you, I will walk beside you. I will teach you how to quiet the external noise of a world that can be so demanding and disorienting that it takes away your peace. I can help you reacquaint you with your wise, inner voice. We’ll identify your values, strengths, and preferences, reconnecting you to your authentic self. We’ll discuss healthy ways of coping with life’s stressors, identify and implement healthy boundaries, and use your unique strengths to build back your confidence and sense of self. We’ll create a personalized tool kit that will become a safety net you can rely on as you navigate the messiness of life. My goal as your therapist is to guide you in drawing a map to move forward, to help you find purpose in your day-to-day life, and reconnect with a sense of deeper meaning.

Each session is designed to provide a safe, supportive, and compassionate environment. Here, we can tune out the world's noise, allowing you to breathe, process past events, explore the present, and envision a growth-oriented future. My hope is that you will find healing here.

Being human is complex; life brings each of us unique challenges and struggles. Through these challenges and struggles, we find opportunities for personal growth and increased insight into who we are. We need one another to navigate life's complexities. Humans are wired for connection, and I believe we heal in relationships. The therapeutic relationship can provide an excellent space to begin your healing journey.
